Shimmer Ink for Fountain Pens

Kyanite du Népal

Kyanite is bright blue and pulling toward turquoise. It is magnified thanks to a cloud of silver glitter giving a powerful and elegant glint to your script.

Since the discovery of the famous mining region of Nepal, Kali Gandaki, Kyanite has been recognized as a noble mineral because of its similarities with the rich tones of sapphire.

The ink is a turquoise colour with a shimmering silver sparkle effect, a trademark of the 1798 ink serie

 1798 Anniversary Series: Shimmer Inks

Each bottle contains 50ml of finest quality Herbin ink in colours exclusive to this collection, which illuminate with flecks of silver which "shimmer" to glorious effect.

Care Recommendations

Avoid leaving your pens inked for long periods of time as the silver flecks in these inks require extra care to be taken by regularly flushing your pens entirely clean of ink.

We do not recommend inking vintage pens with particularly delicate feeds those which are very sensitive to ink staining with this series.

Jacques Herbin: A Brief History

The oldest name in ink production worldwide, J. Herbin was established in 1670 creating inks and sealing waxes for many famous French figures including King Louis XIV and Victor Hugo, author of The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

The origins of J.Herbin date back to 1670. At around this time the French sailor Jacques Herbin produced his first ink in his Paris workshop, "The Ink of Ships." This ink was an iron gall ink, required to be waterproof due to the weather and damp climate of ship's cabins.

The recipe may have been formulated for the ship's master on his trips back and forth to India; or when he settled down in Paris to first start producing his sealing wax. Today Jacques Herbin are one of the most highly regarded producers of fountain pen ink in the world.
