Avoid leaving your pens inked for long periods of time and be sure to regularly flush your pens entirely clean of ink.

We do not recommend inking vintage pens with particularly delicate feeds or those which are very sensitive to ink staining with this particular series

Jacques Herbin: A Brief History

The oldest name in ink production worldwide, J. Herbin was established in 1670 creating inks and sealing waxes for many famous French figures including King Louis XIV and Victor Hugo, author of The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

The origins of J.Herbin date back to 1670. At around this time the French sailor Jacques Herbin produced his first ink in his Paris workshop, "The Ink of Ships." This ink was an iron gall ink, required to be waterproof due to the weather and damp climate of ship's cabins.

The recipe may have been formulated for the ship's master on his trips back and forth to India; or when he settled down in Paris to first start producing his sealing wax. Today Jacques Herbin are one of the most highly regarded producers of fountain pen ink in the world.
