The Parker 61 was first introduced in 1956 in the USA. After an extensive design period Parker announced the new pen with its revolutionary capillary filling system. It utilised a new material, Teflon, to protect the hood and allow excess ink to drain back into the ink bottle without the need for wiping. The same model was also produced in the UK but not until the early 60's. The pen was produced in a wide variety of colurs and finishes on both sides of the Atlantica and Parker expanded the range to include aerometric filled models also.
This pen is is the latter, aerometric filled pen, in near mint condition, in gold insignia pattern, with lovely deep burgundy grip section accented by the Parker golden arrow. The barrel and cap both bear pearlescent tassie jewels as is customary with the Parker 61 Custom.
A superb pen, fully serviced with an aerometric ink converter for use in bottled ink (squeeze to fill), ready to write with a smooth medium nib and housed in its original hard case with instrucitons.
There are no imperfections to note, no chips cracks or engravings.
The black grip section has a few surface scratches (only visible under bright light closeup) otherwise a very nice clean example - the gold finish is immaculate and the cartouche is blank should you wish to engrave it. The instructions have scribbles upon them
