Established in 1919 by Syunchi Nakata, Platinum Pen Co. is renowned as a manufacturer of fine fountain pens, but is relatively unknown in the West. Platinum is closely related to the legendary Japanese Nakaya fountain pen brand, where some of the finest fountain pens in the world are created. This expertise also goes into Platinum's own line of fine writing instruments, and there are few pens with the nib quality to match the Platinum #3776 for example
This model is the 3776 in Chartres Blue, a lovely translucent blue with classic gold trim. The nib is a 14k gold fine nib, a touch finer than a western fine. The pen comes boxes with papers and warranty card.
There are no major imperfections to note, no chips splits or engravings.
The pen has been inked, and shows signs of regular use, surface wear is present throughout in the form of microscratches and wear to the gold trim.
The nib is a fine 14k gold platinum nib. It is springy and writes with a touch of feedback, enough to let you know the page is there but without too much resistance for it to be unpleasant. A very good everyday writer indeed at a great price.
