Made in Settimo Torinese in the early 1930s, this pen was clearly inspired by the legendary American classics – Eversharp Doric and Equipoised, as well as the equally famous early round OMAS Extra Lucens, both from the same era. Settimo Torinese was known as one of the main regions in Italy famous for quality pens and many large and small pen companies were located in that area. The ALFAV brand comes from one of the smaller manufacturers in this area and the brand name was derived from the name of the company owner, Aldo Favetta.
The pen has been fully restored and is ready to write. The nib is a 14k gold semi flex which writes a medium line, and flexes to a broad line on the downstroke. A very nice writer. The pen smacks of Art Devo Italian craftsmanship, produced from celluloid the finish is stunning, and the cap accents, triple cap bands are all hallmarks of a beautiful Italian vintage.
There are no major imperfections to note, no chips splits or engravings.
There are small marks on the black grip section, and micro scratches on the body of the cap and barrel. But this is a beautifully preserved and highly presentable pen with bold imprints and glossy celluloid finish which works and writes beautifully.
