Name: Vintage OMAS Ogiva Extra Fountain Pen 557-S
Maker: OMAS, Italy, c1980s
Colour: Black / Gold 'Greek Key' Pattern
Nib: 18k Gold Nib - Fine
Filling System: Piston Filler
Produced when OMAS were arguably in their prime, the Ogiva Extra is a very fine piston filler, offering a lovely springy and responsive fine nib, and a very comfortable feel in the hand.
It is the classic cigar or torpedo shape, a full sized fountain pen with a girth akin to Mont Blanc 146 Le Grand. It is piston filled, with a large ink capacity.
There are no major imperfections to note, no splits cracks or engravings.
The pen shows light surface wear throughout, and of the gold rings on the grip section is brassed somewhat. Otherwise an excellent clean example.
The 18k nib offers a smooth writing experience, a springy, responsive nib putting a good amount of ink down in a fine line. The writing sample describes the nib as a semi flex stub nib. It is a fine nib with a little bit of springyness to it.
