The Full Story
Mabie Todd & Co. Ltd was originally established as Mabie Todd and Bard of New York, USA in 1873 and began production in the UK in 1905 under licence.
The UK branch bought out the US outfit in the early 1920’s and Mabie Todd became a wholly owned British company, thriving thanks to British preferences for conservative design and reliability and successful advertising campaigns.
The SWAN Leverless is a lovely full sized fountain pen, with a large 'Eternal' No.4 nib which is a super fine nib, firm but smooth on the page, a consistent and enjoyable writer. s
The Nitty Gritty
There are no major imperfections to note, no splits cracks or engravings.
The pen has some very minor surface wear, discolouration to the rubber fittings and some micro scratches to the cap and barrel
The SWAN No.4 nib is a lovely fine nib, it is firm with no flex and writes with good ink flow and lovely smoothness with little feedback
