The Full Story
Mabie Todd & Co. Ltd was originally established as Mabie Todd and Bard of New York, USA in 1873 and began production in the UK in 1905 under licence.
The UK branch bought out the US outfit in the early 1920’s and Mabie Todd became a wholly owned British company, thriving thanks to British preferences for conservative design and reliability and successful advertising campaigns.
This example is a lovely understated pen with a 14k gold '2' SWAN nib, which is a medium Italic which flexes to a broad. A delightful writer finished in black chevron patterning with a black metal lever bar.
The Nitty Gritty
There are no major imperfections to note, no splits cracks or engravings.
There are some marks on the barrel below the threads and at the rear of the pen. Otherwise a very good example.
