The Wyvern Fountain Pen Co was formed in 1895 by David and Alec Finburgh. The company was original called The Finburgh Bros' who made a black hard rubber eye dropper which they called 'The Wyvern' they later changed their name to The Wyvern Fountain Pen Company and throughout the course of the first half of the 20th century produced high quality writing instruments, assembling pens for Conway Stewart and the John Bull co and selling their pens worldwide.
This particular model the 'Perfect Pen' is a large sized classic, fitted with a Wyvern Perfect 14k gold semi flex nib. The pen has been serviced and is ready to write. It is a real pleasure to write with, do checkout the writing sample, it writes a smooth wet line, with ample flex and line variation from a fine to a broad.
There are no major imperfections to note.
There is a small split at the top of the cap, which is disguised by the cap clip, which itself is not flush to the cap. (See photo 9)
However the pen is in overall very good condition and fills and writes beautifully
There are some minor micro-scratches, marks and evidence of use on the cap and barrel.
Why not pair with a bottle of J Herbin ink? Blue Ocean or Rouge Hematite would make a wonderful compliment to this pen.
