Yard-O-Led have a long history dating back to 1934 producing silver jewellery and writing instruments in England, in particular their patented pencils which had the capacity to hold 12 3" leads - hence the name 'Yard O' Lead'. Yard O Led continue to produce sterling silver writing instruments by hand in Birmingham, UK
Yard-O-Led describe the Viceroy Pocket as 'The petite sizing and intricate hand-hammered Victorian patterning make the Viceroy Pocket ideal for slipping neatly into a pocket or for use during travel.' The cap can be posted to the barrel giving the writer a fuller sized pen at 127mm, and at 25gms of sterling silver a beautifully balanced pen with gravitas.
This is a highly collectable pen, fully serviced, complete with box papers and standard international ink cartridge with 18k medium nib, fully serviced and ready to write.
There are no major imperfections to note, no chips splits or engravings.
There are some minor micro-scratches and marks at the top of the cap and a small blemish on the rear of the barrel. Overall a very nice shiny and clean example, fully serviced and ready to write.
Why not pair with a bottle of J Herbin ink? Blue Ocean or Rouge Hematite would make a wonderful compliment to this pen.
