Yard-O-Led have a long history dating back to 1934 producing silver jewellery and writing instruments in England, in particular their patented pencils which had the capacity to hold 12 3" leads - hence the name 'Yard O' Lead'. Yard O Led continue to produce sterling silver writing instruments by hand in Birmingham, UK
Yard-O-Led describe the Grand line as 'The ultimate writing instrument for the dedicated pen connoisseur. The Viceroy Grand has perfect balance and its imposing dimensions give it a sense of authority.'
This is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship and an heirloom pen which will last generations. Fully serviced, complete with box papers and standard international ink converter with an 18k gold fine nib.
There are no major imperfections to note, no chips splits or engravings.
There are some minor micro-scratches present, particularly around the grip section (see photo 2) and evidence of tarnishing as is usual with sterling silver, however this does not detract from the overall presentation of the pen which is stunning to behold.
Why not pair with a bottle of J Herbin ink? Blue Ocean or Kyanite Du Nepal would make a wonderful compliment to this pen.
